One year ago I read Wild Swans by Jung Chang, the real life history of her (chinese) family from the last days of the chinese empire down to Maoist Cultural Revolution. I held my breath up all through the book. The author now lives in London.
Found lately in a used books shop The Liars' Club, by Mary KARR, a history of the author's youth in Texas. I've not started reading it yet but looks good.

IRAN-Deja vu all over again?
by JWdaughter inany of the rhetoric, demands, conciliation, etc., etc., remind you of anything?
wasn't this all how this war started in iraq?
(or the justification for it, anyway?

I agree with David, Ahmadinejad (must ask Sarah Palin how she would pronounce) is anything but ignorant, but where he wants to get at is unclear, since he knows the western countries are not going to be taken for another ride for long. Or maybe his goal is all to clear : he's hating the western heathen hedonistic world, and its Israeli extention, to the extent he's ready to set the whole middle east area, and beyond, ablaze, with the sole aim of putting the Occident on its knees. It is to be hopped, as someone wrote in a previous post, that cool heads will take over in Iran before it's too late.

How much would the WBTS owe you?
by Joshnaz inif you calulated the amount of time you spent preaching, the money you have given to them, plus time developing talks, with a commision for each watchtower, awake, and other books sold.
how much would the wbt$ owe you?.

A Conversation That Sent Me On a Search ...
by snowbird inin 2000, my boss, a police lieutenant, was nearing retirement and had very little work to do.. every afternoon, he used to come out of his office and station himself near my workstation for a chat.
there was something about me that seemed to fascinate him.
i think it was my being a jw; he used to ask probing questions about my belief.. one day our conversation centered on sin and judgment.

"Do you mean that no matter what awful things a person may do, death cancels it all?"
As to the question your lieutenant asked, Snowbird, I would have understood that he wondered how, on the basis of fair justice, a criminal like Hitler would incur the same penalty, that is death, as the one who is sentenced to death by men on account of having committed a single murder.
I understand that remark because our innate sense of justice tells us that, somehow, penalty must be in proportion with the seriousness of the fault. Yes but, what penalty, other than death, can be inflicted upon Hitler ? Are we going to resuscitate hellfire or purgatory just for the sake of satisfying our legitimate desire for an examplary punishment upon Hitler, or torture him before putting him to death ? Hard as it is to accept this sentence that "He who has died has been acquitted from his sins", I can't see a better sanction to criminal action, whether the criminal has been responsible for the death of 10 or 10 million innocent persons.
Now, that doesn't answer the question re. for what actions the resurrected ones will be judged. Better say that the Bible isn't clear on this subject. I would personally find it difficult, along with a few others, to countenance Hitler being around during 1000 years or even part thereof, pending judgement, but here is the grand haziness of Revelation, we can believe about anything we want to see in it. Wait and see.

Horrible. Please accept my deepest sympathy, Bumble Bee. May the resurrection hope be a comfort to the members of your family who nurture it. Sincere condolences. That happened in my family in 2004, both my niece and her husband died in similar circumstances, only 2 days after their wedding. Devastating.

From Stalingrad onward (febr 43), the Fritz were done. Hadn't the US entered the war the Soviets would have rolled over the German army down to Paris. Not that the occupied countries enjoyed the prospect, great thanks to you Sam.

Welcome, Wants,
to introduce myself, I left, informally (didn't DA), about 4 months ago but if my experience can be of any help, I will say that before leaving for good, you have to make it clear in your mind that you must not do it with misgivings, regrets or guilt feelings. Reading the BEST OF on this site will help you transform your doubts into certainty about what harm this organization can do to the individuals and their families. Once you will have cleansed your mind of JW mental automatisms (starting with making a difference between the Bible teaching and the heavy stifling, and most of the time unscriptural, rules that the WTS inferes from this teaching in daily life), you will find that it's not so difficult to drop out altogether and that possible, probable, shunning from JWs is still better than faking. You will by then have gathered up strength to face the difficulties which will not fail to arise and you will be able to make decisions, such as the ones about divorcing and remarrying, in accord with your conscience, and Bible principles if you keep believing in them after you have sorted all that out, and not according to the WTS standards. Good luck.

Soap and standard 1 or 2 blade disposable razor, economical and works perfectly. Many blades amount to as many scraping of the skin, not very good healthwise.
